APC, NOT A REHABILITATION CENTRE - OSHIOMHOLE

The former Governor of Edo State, who was also the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and now the Distinguished Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, Comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomhole has declared that the All Progressives Congress, APC is not a Rehabilitation Centre where recancitrant people especially politicians are harboured.

He made this declaration when he paid condolence visit to the family of late Esongban of Benin Kingdom, Chief David Edebiri.

On his way out, Journalists asked him for his reaction  to the political feud between the Governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu.

The Distinguished Senator Comrade Oshiomhole said that he would not have loved to talk about it because it was a mourning period as a result of the home call of Chief David Edebiri whom he referred to as his father.
In his response, he said that all Edo State needed was peace.

According to him,  "I read about somebody going to Court to complain about being suspected of being impeached. I don't know how Courts adjudicate over suspicion.
But, let me say this, to say that somebody wants to run to APC, I want to say that APC is not a Rehabilitation Centre. I can tell you that for free.
The Distinguished Senator     Oshiomhole addressing Journalists.

We in APC are satisfied the way we are, we are happy in opposition and we are not about to receive people who are coming because they have lost out. I want to say that  there is no Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp  in APC.
So, my advice is that those who are having challenges should learn how to respect their Bosses. I have always advised people that whoever you work with, be loyal.
Regardless of Party divide, it is my wish for Edo to be governed in peace and harmony because the Supra Party to which we all belong  is the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Political Parties, even the rate of camping and decamping and recamping shows that the only thing that is constant is Nigeria and not the Political Parties.
I was here and I was unable to support my Deputy to succeed me, but my Deputy never took me to Court. And if there are people who always profit from crisis, they cannot have my support.
Regardless of what anybody will say, I come from only one of the clans in my Local Government, it will be nice if only my clan produce the Governor, but I know that Nigeria doesn't work that way, there are those sentiments that people think that at this level of our development, the thing should go round".

He described the late Esongban of Benin Kingdom, Chief David Edebiri as a man who took him as his son. He said that all the advices the Esogban gave him right from the first time he met him to intimate him of his aspirations to contest for the governoship position helped him to become the Governor of Edo State.
He reiterated that he paid dearly for some of the advices he didn't take, but he would not want to open old wounds.
The first son of the late Esongban of Benin Kingdom, Mr. Collins Edebiri eulogized Distinguished  Senator Comrade Oshiomhole for finding time to pay the family condolence visit. He prayed that God takes him safely to his destination.
Mr. Collins also used the opportunity to present the gift his father was to send to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which unfortunately, he could not before his demise.
